Commendable performance from Nepali Football Team

Nepal for once, seems to have stepped up a level they play the game.It was clear to see in their recent
performances.Football has always been the undisputed No.1 sport in this country and is dear to everybody's heart.Nepal has its own domestic setup that extends to 3 well run division, the shahid smarak league and other b and c division league. The league is although not at the level it should be,given the huge interest and support to football in this country, still it is taking some baby steps forward.Foreign players are not a new concept here now.nepali youth football academy and coaching is there to develop the future player. But the real impact and import, international football,is seemingly going alright for nepali national team at the moment.
Ever since coach Graham Robert took control of the team last year, nepali national team is climbing up the world football ranks.they did a very heartening performance in AFC challenge cup group D held at the capital ,kathmandu where they beat srilanka and conceded only a single goal against North Korea which had just recently participated in the all important FIFA world cup 2010.That performance earned Nepal a huge accolade and praise from their eager nepali fans.
But the real moment of glory for nepalese fans came in the 2014 world cup qualifier when nepal thrashed East Timor 5-0 in the exhibition of raining goals.expectations raised sky high when Nepal went to Jordan,a much fancied team to qualify from Asia, and due to lack of enough preparation but lack of adjustment to the arab condition,Nepal lost in a dissapointing fashion and conceded 9 goals. But on the return leg, infront of home fans,Nepal limited Jordan to a 1-1 draw in Kathmandu and for the most part of the game, were dominating Jordan,in the process becoming the highest ranked south asian team in the FIFA world ranking.
And the expectations are now even higher when Nepal plays the upcoming AFC challenge cup at home against some of the best teams in Asia.
